PVC recycled!

260,000 tonnes of PVC waste recycled in 2010 in Europe: this is what the European PVC industry has just announced in the final report of Vinyl 2010, its ten-year programme of voluntary commitment, launched in 2000, to promote sustainable development in the production and utilisation of PVC.

In 1999, there was no PVC recycling infrastructure in Europe and many dismissed PVC as being “unrecyclable”. The European PVC industry then decided to set an annual target of 200,000 tonnes to be recycled. The results underline the progress made by the European industry in waste management, innovation in recycling technologies and social commitment.

With the success of Vinyl 2010, a new voluntary commitment, VinylPlus, is to be presented in June.
